Founded in 1966, the Stud Bar has played and continues to hold an important role in the life of San Francisco. Known as a gathering place for all kinds of outsiders, the Stud has provided community and connection to many. Most of the items on this website were found in the basement of the Stud before it closed in 2020, and represent only a tiny fraction of the material about the Stud and its patrons that survives.
